Horizon Legacy CEO Nhung Nguyen joined industry leaders at the Canada Builds Modern Summit in Toronto to discuss how modern methods of construction can help Canada deliver housing more efficiently and at scale.
The summit, convened by Jennifer Keesmat, President and CEO of Collecdev Markee, brought together prominent leaders from government, housing, industry, and innovation, including the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure; Ana Bailão, CEO of Build Canada Homes; Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow; Rick Hansen, founder of the Rick Hansen Foundation.
Moderated by Will Meneray, Director of Construction Innovation at Build Canada Homes, the panel, Matching Methods to Missions: Choosing the Right Path to Scale, Nhung joined fellow industry leaders to explore how different building systems can work together to address Canada’s housing challenges. The discussion also featured Chris Latour, CEO of Element5; Marco Pronto, Business Development Manager at the Canadian Precast Concrete Institute; and Justin Ferreira, Senior Vice President, Residential & Commercial at ATCO Structures.

Horizon Legacy’s distinctive approach to construction innovation: bringing the factory to the building site through a mobile microfactory.
By bringing automated production capabilities closer to where housing is needed, Horizon aims to combine the productivity and repeatability of manufacturing with the flexibility required for different sites and building designs. Its approach integrates robotics and digital workflows to help modernize construction delivery and address persistent industry challenges, including labour constraints and productivity.
As Canada looks to scale modern construction, the opportunity lies in moving beyond isolated innovations toward solutions that can be deployed more broadly and commercially. Horizon’s mobile microfactory model represents a fresh approach to bringing industrialized construction closer to the communities it serves.
