Gananoque Townhomes Grand Opening

Horizon Legacy hosted the official Grand Opening of Gananoque Townhomes at 425 Fourth Street, welcoming more than 150 guests from across the housing, construction, technology, education, and public sectors. The event formed part of Toronto Tech Week and marked the completion of a 26-unit residential development delivered using Horizon Legacy’s on-site robotic construction methodology.

Attendees included elected officials, industry leaders, housing advocates, researchers, students, and children's author Elaine Kachala, whose educational book highlighting housing and community development features the Gananoque Townhomes project.

The project represents one of Canada's first and largest residential developments constructed using on-site robotics, demonstrating the practical application of advanced construction technologies in delivering housing at a community scale. Through the integration of digital construction workflows, automation, and local trade participation, the development serves as a model for increasing productivity and innovation within the residential construction sector. The all-electric community was designed with high-performance building envelopes and R-30 insulated wall systems to support long-term energy efficiency and occupant comfort. In addition, 30% of the project's 26 units have been designated as affordable housing, demonstrating how advanced construction methods can contribute to both housing affordability and sustainable community development.

The event was attended by local government, industry partners, housing advocates, researchers, and community members. Special guests included MPP Steve Clark, Mayor John Beddows, Town Planner Brenda Guy, members of Gananoque Town Council, and representatives from across Ontario's housing ecosystem. Formal acknowledgements were delivered by MPP Clark on behalf of MP Michael Barrett, who also presented certificates of recognition honouring the project's contribution to housing innovation, economic development, and the advancement of construction technology in Ontario.

The Grand Opening provided an opportunity to showcase the completed development, highlight the collaboration between project partners and local trades, and demonstrate the role emerging construction technologies can play in supporting the delivery of future housing projects across Canada.
