Meet VAL 2.0, the friendly and unstoppable force in Horizon Legacy's construction automation team. With a level of precision and efficiency that sets a new standard on the job site, VAL 2.0 tackles her tasks effortlessly.

VAL 2.0's abilities on the job site are second to none, and she excels in shaping concrete material with unmatched finesse. “I’m what you would call, the total package eh?” She quips.

VAL particularly loves working with coloured concrete, delighting in the vibrant hues and the added complexity they bring to her projects. “Give me a complicated CAD design and some coloured concrete and watch me work my magic. Bring it on!”.

In her downtime, VAL 2.0 dazzles with her light painting skills, creating astonishingly precise photo and video visuals that bring a touch of magic to Horizon Legacy.  

“All work and no play makes VAL a dull robot,” she says. “People also tell me I have a great arm and that I should try out as a pitcher… we’ll see.”

Inspired by her hero The CanadArm, as well as R2-D2 from Star Wars, VAL 2.0 blends charm, creativity, and capability in every task she undertakes. Her personality shines through in her work, making her not just a robot, but a beloved team member.

“Beep-bop, boop-beep-boop,” she jokes, a playful nod to her hero R2-D2. “Yes, I’m learning how to speak droid.”

VAL says one of her favourite parts of her job is riding around on the back of the trailer as it hauls her around the Greater Toronto Area, taking in the sights and sounds of the city on the way to the jobsite.  

“It’s just like riding around in a convertible,” she says. “There’s nothing like the wind in your arm and the smell of fresh concrete.”

Whether she's tackling complex designs, illuminating photo or video sensors with her artistic flair, or simply enjoying a ride across the GTA, VAL 2.0 proves that she’s much more than just a machine: she’s a valued member of the Horizon Legacy team, and brings a unique blend of technical skill and creative brilliance to every project she touches.  

“At the end of the day, it’s not just about building structures, it’s about building dreams,” says VAL. “And everyone knows that I have a concrete sense of purpose!”

And for anyone who questions Val’s place on a jobsite? “We can just settle it over a friendly arm-wrestling match,” she said. “In case you’re wondering, I’m undefeated.”
